Yes and they are great musicians.
business casual
You could dress up if you wanted to, but like most places in Ann Arbor, you can go pretty casual and they won't turn you away.
Wonderful food, excellent service. The ambience, the wine list, the excellent happy hour, and the live music are all things that make The Earle one of Ann Arbor's most cherished institutions.
Very solid, well executed, food and interesting wine list. Menu is the same as in the 80s, but still enjoyable.
Been here many times and I always enjoy it! The duck is probably my favorite. I recommend everyone tries their white bean soup- it doesn't sound impressive but it's amazing and will make you wish you had the recipe!
We celebrated a colleague's retirement party here last weekend. They had us in a private room with three dedicated wait staff for our group of 30. The service was well managed and they accommodated individual diet preferences perfectly. Decent wine selection too. Atmosphere is business casual but cozy and inviting. Would visit again.
We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the place but found the food to be lacking the punch it needed to get 4 or 5 stars. The taste of the food was too generic, and lacked the creativity that the menu seemed to offer. The prices were a little elevated for the dishes we received . No complaints about the staff, they were attentive, nice, and saw us often.
Amazing food. The waiter was a little slow but I gave her benefit of the doubt as there was a big group being served by her. Very curious service by the waiter as well as others serving us. Great live music too. This was my second visit and both experiences were incredible. Highly recommended.
Been 3 times. Each was a distinct treat. Never a crowd, never felt rushed. The staff is courteous, as should be expected. There is an ample public parking lot kitty-corner from the entrance. A bit pricey to bivouac the Beemer, but hey, you're dinning at the Earle! You might have menu shock, but something they do to the French / Italian cuisine elicits a warm feeling of contentment. If you're developing a bucket list put the Earle on it.
Good food... Good service...
My wife and I had out first anniversary here. The music and the food are great. We spent three hours at hour table and loved every minute of it. Thank you to the staff for the great service , and thank you Steve for helping us pick out a great wine. This is a must go place. Anniversary or occasions, or simply just to get a great bottle of wine and get out of the house!
Very classy place perfect for a special occasion. The scallops and wine were beyond excellent!
Amazing food ,atmosphere ,and service . Loved the live music and specialty drinks.
The Earle is simply fantastic. In the heart of Ann Arbor it serves as a beat in class local restaurant. I took my wife there for her birthday and the customer service exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!
This almost hidden restaurant gives off a cool, secluded vibe. Very cozy, and though there wasn't live jazz the Sunday I went, it seems like it would put the experience over the top. The service was excellent and the food was great. Would definitely recommend, but I wouldn't call it $$, like Google says. More like $$$ ($20 minimum for a meal)
Excellent Jazz group plays on Friday & Saturday evenings. Excellent food, great happy hour!! Love the bartender & servers!
Great Take out service! Supporting the small businesses :)
This was one of my mom's favorite places. Good food, great atmosphere. Staff is always on top of their game.
Food was great, service was not so great, the table that was seated next to us after we had already put in a order for salad and soups had their order taken and was served their food and had ate and was getting up to leave and we had not even got are meals the waiter I think forgot about us so from the time we set down and the time he took are dinner order was almost 45 minutes, that is not good service. needs to work on the table management.
My wife and I went for her birthday. We will absolutely go back. She ordered the duck, I ordered the salmon. Both meals were fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful for a night out together. Our server was very friendly and attentive. It was a great experience and one we will repeat in the future.
Mussels@ happy hour R fabulous. A must have appetizer! The pasta was outstanding as well. Marvy atmosphere. Who would have thunk eating in the basement is so charming! Will definitely do the Earle the next time we R in AA
I can’t say enough good things about The Earle! We’ve gone to the happy hour for years. My husband loves mussels and it’s such a great deal! I’d be fine just eating their amazing bread while he eats mussels, but luckily there’s so many other good things there! The aioli for their calamari is AMAZING! Dinner in the dining room is always a treat too. Great service and great food all around!
I miss the tomato broth on the mussels but still good taste although too much garlic for me in new broth. All service as usual was very good along with our food. Wine selections are also good.
The Earle is a wonderful restaurant. The food is very delicious very weak prepared and cooked. Also the staff is friendly along with being knowledgeable with the menu and the options available on the menu. Overall a great restaurant and highly recommended.
The bartender took good care of me. I ordered from their Happy Hour menu (as they have one of the best Happy Hours I have ever seen). The wine I chose was wonderful. I ordered the crab cakes and French Onion Soup for dinner. Everything was delicious.I'm so happy I dined at The Earle and I'm anxious to return to Ann Arbor again and dine there when the jazz band performs.
Imagine yourself in a basement, decorated setting with live music great drinks and some of the best food I have ever tasted. Pictured is the duck and it was the most amazing dish I have ever had. The potatoes were so creamy and good, tasty veggies, and the duck was cooked perfectly with great seasoning, fruit, and juicy.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. Very romantic ambiance. Our server and the other staff were very friendly, and food was delicious. I had the Sautéed Beef Tenderloin with Roquefort for my entree. It was served with scalloped potatoes and veggies. All of which were fabulous. Our server's wine suggestion paired wonderfully. We had a lovely experience. (Side note: I'd already taken a few bites when I decided to snap the picture below.)
Went for Ann arbor week and was not disappointed. So delicious. Great staff.
The Earle is an Ann Arbor staple. I can only afford this place like once a year but it NEVER disappoints for ANY meal. Everything you eat here is made of dreams and tastes like it fell from heaven. Do yourself a favor and start saving income for a trip to this restaurant. I got the duck and my man loves the braised beef rolled in peppercorns. We ordered a classy bottle of vino and had a cute lil date night here. Our service was amazing and the employees who weren't even working that day were hanging out eating and enjoying the company of each other .... I work at a hospital and at no point when I get out of work am I like "I wanna spend MORE time here". Summary: go to The Earle, it's phenomenal.
Very good French food, with a killer wine list and live music. The last two times we were there, the music was solo jazz guitar, playing a mix of jazz standards and jazz versions of popular songs (e. g. Make you feel my love). Their beef dishes have always pleased. The Coquilles St. Jacques were earthy and delicious. We have never been able to fit in dessert, but they look good. The location in a rough - finished cellar makes for a nice atmosphere.
